Translated the Website into Ukrainian
50,000,000 characters. But that’s not an exact figure—it may be even more 😀
Due to a new Ukrainian law, the website was required to have a Ukrainian-language version. We started translating the online store back in the summer. It required a lot of resources—time, money, and people.
Some parts were translated manually, while others were translated automatically using an API and the good old Google Translate, which, in my opinion, has recently improved the quality and accuracy of its translations.
The result: https://motozilla.com.ua/ua/
At first, we thought it would be quick and easy. But then we became completely immersed in translating:
✳️ product specifications
✳️ filters
✳️ brands
✳️ the entire checkout process (combinations of plugins, text, and various automations)
✳️ searching for alternative plugins and replacing the existing ones that were not adapted to display content in Ukrainian
✳️ the SEO plugin (meta tags, filters, and SEO-friendly URLs)
✳️ and, of course, 150,000,000 characters of content
When I saw that figure, I nearly lost it )) And that doesn’t even include all the nuances related to rendering and adjusting different elements of the layout. Anyway, we’ve completed this huge amount of work.
At the moment, we have hidden some category descriptions and the blog on the Ukrainian version because this content is still being translated manually and gradually.
In theory, the Ukrainian version should have a positive impact: it should expand the online store’s keyword coverage through Ukrainian-language searches and improve its current rankings for them. We’ll see 🕰
