One thing I’ve learned for certain over the years of working in SEO is that you should never put all your eggs in one basket. You need maximum diversification. You can’t invest everything in one website, one direction, one GEO, or one niche.
Your project portfolio should be similar to an investment portfolio. You should invest in both high-risk assets, such as crypto, and something highly stable, such as the S&P 500. You should also invest in companies from different industries, such as healthcare and technology, and diversify them across different countries.
I apply the same approach to SEO. I build projects across different niches and GEOs: commercial and informational, white-hat and grey-hat. This makes it easier to withstand various crises and updates: when one project declines, another grows a little. This creates balance.
Here is an example: a non-gambling website with CIS traffic showing steady and gradual growth. I’m adding content and building backlinks, mainly through submissions. I’ll start monetizing it in one or two months; for now, it isn’t generating any revenue.
