How about this: an Instagram page ranks first on Google for the search query “Tattoo Lviv.” What’s more, several other Instagram accounts also appear in the TOP 10.
So here we are buying domains, collecting keywords, designing site structures, writing content, optimizing meta tags, setting up internal linking, purchasing backlinks, and waiting for the next Google update. Meanwhile, someone simply created an account, uploaded some tattoo photos, and reached the TOP 1 🙂
Maybe we should forget about websites altogether and start promoting Instagram accounts in search results instead. No issues with page indexing, loading speed, duplicate content, canonicals, or yet another WordPress plugin deciding to break the site in the middle of the night.
The content plan is perfectly straightforward as well: a dragon on someone’s shoulder today, a rose on a thigh tomorrow, and the day after that, a cover-up of an “Olya Forever” tattoo. The main thing is to optimize the profile name and description, specify the location, and regularly publish relevant content.
On a serious note, this makes perfect sense for local searches. Users want to immediately see the artist’s work, evaluate their style, read reviews, and send them a direct message. Instagram effectively covers this entire journey on a single page, which is why Google may consider it a useful result.
This means that in some local niches, you’re no longer competing only with websites, directories, and maps, but also with social media platforms. Sometimes, a single Instagram profile can outrank full-fledged business websites.
So the new promotion strategy is ready: instead of buying expired domains, we buy old Instagram accounts with followers, strengthen them with high-authority submissions, and wait for Ahrefs to introduce a new metric — IR, or Instagram Rating 😂
