What if I could outsmart Google? I set up a 301 redirect from the old domain to the new one, and the new domain is growing. Once the growth stops, I’ll redirect another domain to it and then start building backlinks. But what if I build links to the old domain instead of the new one? I could use anchor-rich links, homepage backlinks, and so on.
In theory, any penalties — if there are any — should remain on the old domain, while the new domain receives clean link equity. What I mean is never building backlinks directly to the new domain and working only through the old one instead. The link equity should still be passed on, right?
Could this actually work, or am I talking nonsense? 🙂
