My first experience with SEO in 2015
There was a time—back in 2015—when I worked as an SEO assistant and built backlinks manually for all of our projects. We had a portfolio of Amazon affiliate websites covering coffee makers, collectible knives, electronics, and more. Back then, we ranked content websites using almost nothing but crowd links, submits, Web 2.0, and profile links. Pretty much the entire international SEO industry relied on these methods at the time. Even today, they remain a significant part of link building for international projects, thanks to the huge number of UGC platforms where you can place backlinks. But that’s not the point of this post.
Tell me, who else remembers some truly cringe SEO practices from 10 years ago? For example, I still remember people highlighting keywords in bold and different colors inside SEO texts—especially in the website footer. 👇
