Motozilla Is Currently at the Lowest Point of the Season
Motozilla is currently at the lowest point of the season — sales have dropped by half
We are still making sales, but there are approximately half as many as during the peak season from March to August. The decline is especially noticeable when it is freezing or snowing outside. There is a strong correlation between the weather and daily sales: when there is heavy snowfall, sales immediately drop by 30–50% compared with a regular winter day when it is around +2°C and there is no snow.
As our turnover declines while fixed expenses remain unchanged, we have to optimize spending across the warehouse, sales department, and the entire team. We are trying to retain all our employees during the off-season so that we do not have to recruit people again when the new season begins. Depending on the position, skills, and experience of each employee, we try to keep salaries 30–50% above the market average. We want the best professionals to want to work with us.
We often recruit people from major companies where they earned half as much despite having heavier workloads and facing higher demands. This is quite common: when you work for a leading company, you learn its processes, develop as a professional, and spend some time effectively working for experience. After that, you begin looking for better terms.
We are looking for ways to make the off-season easier to manage. One option is to expand our product range with items that sell consistently throughout the year or introduce winter categories that are in higher demand during the colder months. On the other hand, the off-season is also a time to prepare actively for the next season and fix various issues on the website 🙂
