Someone wrote in the comments under my previous posts that everything is going downhill with my sex shop, I’m making a second attempt at the dating niche, my backlinks don’t work, and everything is basically a disaster — so I should focus exclusively on paid advertising.
I don’t know how things are going for you, but many things in SEO simply don’t work out for me. More than half of all my attempts and hypotheses fail. Essentially, I move from one failure to another in search of success 🙂
But how could it be any different? Imagine if everyone succeeded on their first or, at worst, second attempt. We would all be incredibly successful and wealthy, wouldn’t we?
Yes, my sex shop grew from zero to 200 unique visitors per day and then dropped to 100. But I’m not going to quit SEO because of that. I’ll simply keep experimenting and testing. Failure is normal, in my opinion, especially in SEO. If I had taken a pessimistic approach, I would never have reached more than 10,000 unique visitors per day with Motozilla during the peak season.
I developed a strategy for myself a long time ago: if you want to succeed in SEO, you need to make a certain number of attempts and test plenty of hypotheses. You can’t bet everything on one idea and keep pushing it for an entire year. If an idea comes to mind, I test it quickly and evaluate the results. If it doesn’t work, I move on.
Most of my efforts ultimately end up in the trash. No matter how convinced I am at the beginning of a test that a particular method is definitely going to work, sometimes it simply doesn’t 🙂 It’s a great way to keep your ego in check and bring you back down to earth.
