What’s More Valuable: Lots of Weak Links or 7 Strong Donors?

I found an interesting dropped domain and started wondering how you would value it.

At first glance, the number of links is not impressive at all — just 7 dofollow links. But if you look at the quality of the donors rather than the quantity, things become much more interesting.

Among the backlinks, there are pages from very strong and trusted resources. Some of the donors have a DR in the 70–90+ range, while the domains themselves receive anywhere from hundreds of thousands to millions of visits.

So this is a classic situation: there are almost no links, but several of them look genuinely powerful.

And this is where the question comes in — how much more valuable is a profile like this compared to a typical dropped domain with hundreds or even thousands of backlinks, most of which come from mediocre websites?

Personally, in cases like this, I’m more interested in link quality than in a nice-looking Referring Domains number. Especially if:

— the links are still live and the donor pages are active;
— they are indexed;
— the link is placed in a normal contextual area rather than somewhere in a spammy block;
— the donors have real organic traffic;
— the domain’s history is clean and it hasn’t changed topics into completely unrelated niches over the years.

On the other hand, just 7 links means there is very little margin for error. Losing even one or two strong backlinks could significantly change the value of the entire domain.

What do you think — how much could a dropped domain like this actually be worth?

And what would you choose: a domain with 7 very strong dofollow links or a dropped domain with a hundred more average donors?
