My registrar is threatening to block all 100 sites hosted on my rented server and suspend the server entirely.
It all started when both the registrar and I received an email from a company representing a payment provider whose logo I had used in the footer of one of my sites. You’ve probably seen this before: websites often display Visa, Mastercard, and other payment method logos. I did the same.
A representative of one of the payment providers reviewed my site and pointed out that I wasn’t an official partner. According to them, displaying the logo could therefore mislead users.
The registrar immediately became concerned and warned me that the server could be suspended unless I removed the logo. The problem is that all my sites are hosted there. I never thought anyone would care this much about a logo in a website footer 🙂 Imagine if Visa or Mastercard monitored websites this aggressively — probably half the internet would have to remove their logos.
