With 14,000 Instagram Followers, We Reached 49,000 Unique Users in One Month
Hi everyone! I also manage Instagram at Motozilla. Before choosing a content strategy, I spent a long time analyzing our competitors—specifically commercial accounts selling motorcycle parts. What follows is purely my subjective opinion.
I divided all the accounts into four categories:
👉 Those that posted motorcycle parts in their feeds—up to 10 posts a day, each receiving around 20–30 likes
👉 Those that posted stock photos of impressive sport motorcycles—their posts received more likes, but the strategy was already overused, and all the accounts looked the same
👉 Those that posted photos of attractive women and leaned slightly into suggestive content—the engagement wasn’t particularly high
👉 Those that combined all these strategies—it was a complete mess
Our goal was to grow our Instagram account without a budget or with minimal expenses 💰, increase the brand’s visibility and strength, and regularly appear in front of potential customers.
Then I wondered: what could unite motorcyclists and people interested in related topics, encouraging them to like and save posts, share them with one another, and leave comments from time to time? That’s right—humor 😆
We turned our page into a collection of memes. We also occasionally publish useful content from our email newsletters. Maybe I’m wasting my time and talking nonsense, but still)) Here’s a link to our Instagram account.
It’s difficult for me to quantify the return from Instagram in terms of sales. Direct messages, clicks on the link in our bio, and purchases tracked through Google Analytics don’t provide completely accurate data and underestimate Instagram’s true value 💪
After all, Instagram is an additional brand touchpoint that builds customer trust and loyalty and increases brand awareness. As a result, the brand becomes more deeply embedded in people’s minds and remains in their subconscious. At least, I really want to believe that)) 😇😇😇
Instagram generates a small profit for us compared with the sales volumes from other channels. We either spend nothing on it or invest only a tiny amount each month, so our main expense is the time we put into it.
I wanted our posts to reach the recommendations organically and be shown completely free of charge to new audiences who weren’t following us.
Here are the results we achieved over the past month and the conclusions we reached:
✳️ With 14,000 followers, our posts reached 49,000 unique Instagram users—http://joxi.ru/zANPO5ZtjXzO6m
✳️ Our best-performing posts by reach during the month—http://joxi.ru/BA0XK4eUp97oVA
✳️ The more content you publish and the more consistently you post, the greater your reach and the likelihood of appearing in the recommendations
✳️ If a post doesn’t perform well within the first 30 minutes, it probably won’t take off organically afterward—unless a blogger with a large audience reposts it
✳️ People like seeing people: our IGTV videos and Stories featuring a person on camera receive two to three times more views than content without anyone in the frame.
Please don’t judge a beginner SMM specialist too harshly 🙃
